It’s never too early to start your job search. Whether you’re graduating in a few weeks, or in May, it won’t hurt to start your search now.

The jobless rate amongst American college graduates (with at least bachelor’s degrees) rose to 5.1% in November, up from 4.7% in October, and 4.4% in September, according to the Huffington Post. This is the highest it’s been since the records were first kept in 1970.

What does that mean for the expectant college grad? Things are tough out there, and could take you quite a while to find a job. Months, possibly even years.

Here, some sound advice that may just help you land a gig soon.

Holiday Job Searching:
You may have heard that if you haven’t found a job by the holidays, you may as well give up your search until after the New Year —because nobody hires around this time of year. Well…not exactly.
