The importance of pen and paper

Posted 2 months ago These days living in the digital age, you get so caught up in emails and Facebook and Twitter. There's something to be said about handwritten notes--they really show how much time and effort you've put into the thoughts. Whenever I interviewed for internships, I always sent a handwritten thank you. I think this definitely helps you stand out as a candidate. I've kept in contact with my bosses from my internships and still send them handwritten holiday cards in December. I think this little gesture speaks volumes--I've always received really great references from all of my former internship bosses. Just a little thought (and tip!) for those on the great internship search! |

| Posted 28 days ago I'm not trying to be sarcastic or smart, but does this apply to technical positions? I ask because I have a feeling that these positions tends to require fast responses. In one case, I got an extended offer even before I finished writing my Thank You letter. I definitely agree writing in pen and paper leaves a better impression, but I wonder if that's not always the case. |

| Posted 23 days ago It depends on the job. If it's in the tech industry a thank-you email should be good or even preferable. However, there are a lot of times when a handwritten note would set you apart from the pack. |
