Posted 21 days ago I have searched for resume help all over the internet and all I found has been resume templates and resume witers. I do not have any money to pay anyone and I do not need help formatting my resume. Wording is eveything! That is where I need help. How can I also quantify my resume when many of my jobs were just retail and the ones that weren't there isn't a way to do so. Even when you could upsell items there weren't too many people who cared for this. None of my jobs gave customer service awards or anything like that, so I can't even add this. Contrary to the popular belief there are many jobs you can't quantify! And believe me I had run into many of them. That is why often chose not to stay at them. What can I do when I when I'm not able to do this and I want my resume to look like more than a list? I thought long and hard about my previous jobs I held before I wrote this. One thing for sure is I need better ways to write the content. My resume seems too simplistic. |

| Posted 21 days ago You have to think of ways that your experience answers the requirements of the job--for example yes you did retail, but maybe that means you were good at executing high volume sales, performing customer service under pressure, responding to remote telephone inquiries etc. You just have to present the same info in the right light. |

| Posted 7 days ago You mention your resume looks like a laundry list, but I don't see why this should be bad. If you're talking about the resume's visuals, technically, you shouldn't be too concerned about how it looks. Instead, you should focus on keywords and organization. For example, in my case, I'm a programmer. Thus, it's critical that I list out all the programming languages I know into the resume. When I send this to an online database, people are going to search for these specific skill sets. For organization, your resume has to be scannable. Don't use lines or underlines too frequently. Bold or capitalize headers so that they grab attention. And use bullet points: they make it easier to read the description of each of your experience. Other than that, you should check out sample resumes online. Sure, you're not going to find all that much substance, but you will find what a resume should look like, and maybe a few tips on how you should word your work. |
