The Best Cities for Young Adults
Are you a relatively educated, culturally with-it young person looking to live in a city with same?
Well, here is your list of places to live. Above, from left to right and top to bottom, are America’s best metropolitan areas for young adults, as calculated by Portfolio. They picked cities with “strong growth rates, moderate cost of living, and lots of those under 34 years old who are college-educated and employed.”
Of course, for any individual trying to pick a place to live, factors like where your friends are, and the kind of career you want to have, will outweigh all of this. If you want to be in the film industry you’re not going to move to Raleigh, North Carolina, no matter what Portfolio says.

Interesting article, though some of the cost of living metrics are off the wall. I mean, how can New York possibly be "affordable". All in all, a nice piece, though. Thanks.

I thought when i moved out here that i would find tons of people who i could relate to and who share the same views as me, however i find that if you are not rich in Los Angeles and living in the Valley or Beverly that you really just don't have much of a say in anything and also live in constant fear from gangs in your neighborhoods etc. My family is from Chicago and i am moving back in June. I have never lived there so i hope that i get a much better vibe this time around.

I live in Los Angeles and i think there are a lot of great oppourtunities here and it was a scary move out here from Michigan especially since i am only 19. I was however dissapointed at the lack of people who care about anything i did. The fact that St. Louis is on here is a complete joke! St. Louisans are extremely unfriendly and cliquey! If you move there without knowing anybody, chances are you'll never make any friends there. Not to mention that the economy there is suffering.
I lived there for 8 months and was completely disappointed. I only made friends with non-locals. As for the people that grow up there, you pretty much don't exist. It has a typical midwestern small town culture to it. The only difference is the fact that the crime is outrageous (it's #1 in crime). So you would probably be better off living in a small midwestern town because you'll get the same culture without the crime.
Do not relocate there!
