One of the few banks that’s weathered “the storm better than most,” CEO Kenneth Wilcox said to USAToday. How? By using a different business model that requires any loans to have either a) backup from the company’s assets or b) be a long-term, 5-10 year technology or life science project, which are not as effected by a struggling economy. The USAToday report states “Silicon Valley Bank’s total loans hit a record $4 billion last year, and third-quarter deposits grew 18% to $4.8 billion from the same quarter last year.”
