The Tweets

So you’ve set up an account with all the basic accessories. Now what? A truly successful tweet targets the audience with specific links to good content. Start following people in your industry and “Retweet” any of their content you like. You can either click on the default “Retweet” link at the bottom of each tweet, or simply put “RT” and copy their tweet, including their Twitter name.

Make the most of what Twitter can do by connecting individually with your followers. Some best practices for engaging with others:

• Message and follow back every follower

• Thank a follower for each Retweet

• Return the favor often

Bottom line? Don’t just use Twitter as a way to send out bland corporate messages. It’s so much more than that! Add a little bit of personality and don’t be afraid to voice your opinion. Be bold, and you’re sure to set yourself apart!
