Don’t get angry, get hired

I haven’t spoken to anyone yet who had a fun time finding a job. If your search is anything like mine, you’re going to be told “no” a lot. You’ll probably have interviews that you thought went great, only to find out you didn’t get the job.

All that rejection leads to frustration. One of my friends told me about his frustrations and how he would wake up in the middle of the night wondering what he was doing with his life. I had the same feelings.

At first when I was still in college, I would ignore these anxieties, but then I started to use them as fuel to work even harder at getting what I wanted. If I couldn’t sleep because I was busy thinking about my job frustrations, I’d get up and e-mail people, work on my resume, and find myself more opportunities. Being proactive helped me get back to sleep way better than Tylenol PM.
